The Churchill Hospital, Oxford

Glass 'water' feature

This feature for the Churchill Institute in Oxford includes a six metre tall waterfall, expressed in glass, plus an eleven metre long river, also expressed in glass. The brief was to create a dual purpose area where children could play safely but would also act as a work of art for the entrance area of the building. The waterfall has dichroic film behind it which creates a shimmering effect of greens and blues sparkling and twinkling as you move in relation to the glass. In this way it embodies something of the beauty of real falling water.
