The New London Synagogue, ituated on London’s famous Abbey Road, approached Andrew Moor to help organise the design, manufacture, and installation of a series of fifteen back-lit panels down one side of the synagogue. This is where windows had long ago been bricked up to build a large activity space on the other side.

The rabbi, Jeremy Gordon, already had an artist in mind, a graduate of the Royal Academy of Art, now living in Israel. Josh Baum had already developed in some detail the concepts for each of the panels. Having outlined a basic plan, we made some initial samples showing different ways we could interpret the designs. Josh soon found the method he preferred. This enabled him to push forward with completing the designs in detail. Meanwhile we planned how to build the frames, the lighting, and the installation, ensuring that nothing that was listed in the building was compromised.

Eventually, in April 2023, all fifteen windows were installed and revealed.
